Show-cause notice served on police constable for ‘high-handed’ behaviour

A show-cause notice has been issued to a police constable for allegedly behaving in a high-handed manner with a petitioner during the Praja Vani, the weekly-grievance redressal meeting, held at the Integrated District Offices Complex (IDOC) in Jagtial town on Monday.

The move follows allegations of rude behaviour by the constable towards the petitioner identified as Raja Gangaram, a physically challenged man, from Muthyampeta village in Mallapur mandal, source said.

The incident occurred during the Praja Vani meeting when Raja Gangaram had arrived at the venue to submit his petition to the district authorities seeking a tap connection to his house in his native village.

Meanwhile, official sources denied reports that the physically challenged petitioner was dragged away from the Praja Vani meeting hall. He squatted at the venue for around 45 minutes after submitting his petition despite the officials’ assurance to resolve his grievance promptly, sources added.
