The Ketan Agarwal murder case is hurtling toward a decisive phase — with prime accused Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary’s police custody ending on Monday, a crime scene recreation carried out at Lohagad Fort on Saturday, and a cab driver’s startling new testimony throwing fresh light on Siya’s movements during a Mumbai-bound journey. Pune Rural Police are expected to seek a custody extension when they produce both accused before the Wadgaon Mawal Court this afternoon, with investigators saying more conclusive evidence is on the way.

The case has unravelled at speed since what first appeared to be a tragic accident at Lohagad Fort was exposed as a calculated murder. Police allege that Siya — who was deeply opposed to her arranged engagement to Ketan and was allegedly in love with Chetan Chaudhary — orchestrated the killing before her family’s wedding preparations were even complete.

What Did The Cab Driver See Near Lonavala — And Why Does It Matter?

Cab driver Vaibhav Dattatreya Jadhav, who drove Sia and her brother Sahil from Pune to Mumbai, told police he witnessed Sia pull an unidentified object from her bag at a food mall near Lonavala and slip it quietly into her pocket. When she caught him watching, Jadhav said, he did not dare look her way again. Police are now reviewing CCTV footage from the food mall and surrounding areas to identify the object.

Investigators believe it may be. In earlier questioning, Sia allegedly admitted to tearing up Ketan’s passport and discarding it in a washroom — a move police say was designed to derail a pre-wedding photoshoot trip she wanted no part of. The key questions now:

Jadhav told police that Sia and Sahil were locked in a heated argument shortly after boarding. The fight went on for some time before dying down. Sahil then shifted to the front passenger seat and asked Jadhav to play music. Four more passengers boarded, and the group finally set off for Mumbai.
