Similipal authorities nab 2 poachers, 1 explosive supplier

Bhubaneswar: Two poachers and a gun powder supplier were arrested by Similipal Tiger Reserve authorities on Tuesday morning.The trio was nabbed following analysis of photographs captured in an AI camera, which was installed inside the reserve.

“We seized two country-made guns, one set of snares and explosive material of different categories weighing about 4.8 kg from their possession.

A case has been registered in Pithabata wildlife range and an investigation is undergoing,” Sumit Kar, deputy director (Similipal south), said.A separate FIR will be lodged against them at Kaptipada police station for violations under the Arms Act, 1959, and the Explosives Act, 1884, forest officials said.The three were identified as Sagram Hansdah, Kartika Sing and Ramjit Soren, all in their 30s. On Tuesday, they were produced in a court where their bail pleas were rejected and they were remanded in judicial custody.
