Vijayawada: With just five days remaining for the completion of the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh, the election commission machinery has intensified efforts to meet the July 14 deadline. Chief electoral officer (CEO) Vivek Yadav has said that nearly 70 percent of the
digitisation
of enumeration forms (EFs) has already been completed, with the remaining work expected to be finished within the stipulated timeframe. The election authorities at the field shifted into high gear, with district administrations, electoral registration officers (EROs), assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs), booth-level officers (BLOs) and thousands of data entry operators working round the clock to complete the exercise. Special camps were organised across the state on Wednesday to facilitate voters in submitting forms, verifying their details and resolving discrepancies in the electoral rolls.Despite the extensive arrangements, large numbers of electors continue to visit BLOs and special camps to ensure that their Enumeration Forms have been digitised and that their names are correctly reflected in the draft electoral database. Many voters were seen enquiring about the status of their applications and requesting corrections wherever required.According to CEO Vivek Yadav, the digitisation process has gathered significant momentum over the past few days following the completion of large-scale collection of enumeration forms.
District officials have been instructed to ensure that all pending forms are uploaded without delay and that every eligible elector is included in the revised rolls. He has also directed officials to closely monitor daily progress and eliminate backlogs before the deadline. The Election Commission has reiterated that the SIR exercise is aimed at preparing an accurate, error-free and inclusive electoral roll ahead of future elections.
Officials have been asked to ensure that no eligible voter is left out because of delays in digitisation or verification. The Commission has appealed to electors who have not yet verified their status to immediately contact their BLOs or visit the designated facilitation centres.
Officials remain confident of achieving 100 percent digitisation and completing the revision process within the scheduled timeline.Despite the extensive arrangements, large numbers of electors continue to visit BLOs and special camps to ensure that their Enumeration Forms have been digitised and that their names are correctly reflected in the draft electoral database.
