The NIA on Sunday detained ISF leader Gulam Rabbani in the SIR gherao case, in which judicial officers were allegedly attacked in West Bengal’s Malda.

The judicial officers were deputed for work relating to the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.

According to information, Rabbani is an ISF leader in this region. Sources exclusively told News18 that a day before the incident in Mothabari, he held a meeting there and urged people to join the protest.

The NIA said it is investigating if he planned in advance during that meeting to attack judicial officers. It said he will be arrested in an hour or so.
