Vijayawada: The Election Commission has kick-started the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls on Monday, marking the beginning of a month-long exercise. The ECI wanted to cover nearly 4.16 crore electors across 28 districts and 175 assembly constituencies in the state. The block-level officers (BLOs) visited households across the state and started enumeration. About 4,12,384 enumeration forms (EFs) were distributed on day one, of which 4,115 forms were digitised. The enumeration period will continue till July 14, during which every elector whose name appeared in the electoral rolls as of May 25 will receive a unique EF.The forms have been partially pre-filled to simplify the process for voters. Chief electoral officer Vivek Yadav said that all the EFs required for the exercise have already been printed, and distribution has begun across all 28 districts.

“The objective of the Special Intensive Revision is to ensure accuracy, transparency and completeness of the electoral rolls while making the process voter-friendly. The election machinery has been fully geared up, and every effort is being made to facilitate the participation of electors,” Vivek Yadav said.He also said that BLOs will visit households at least three times for the distribution and collection of EFs during the enumeration phase. Vivek Yadav said the multiple visits are aimed at ensuring that every eligible voter gets an opportunity to participate in the revision process.
