Three doctors on duty at the Government District Headquarters Hospital were allegedly attacked by the attendants of a patient, on Friday midnight.
The II-Town police said that a local youth, Mogileshwar, had arrived at the hospital’s emergency ward with a hand injury, accompanied by a group of five associates, identified as Sharif, Lokesh, Yashwanth, Vinesh, and Sandeep.
Alleging that the duty doctors were delaying the treatment, the youth picked up an argument with three doctors — Rakshit, Saran, and Yogesh. The youth allegedly abused and intimidated them, while Mogileshwar assaulted Dr. Rakshit. Later, when two other doctors — Manoj Kumar and Mohan — came to the rescue of Dr. Rakshit, the group reportedly returned and physically assaulted the trio. The police said that they were verifying the CCTV footage at the hospital premises.
Acting on a complaint from Dr. Manoj, the police registered a case against the six youths. Inspector D. Nettikantaiah said that one of them was taken into custody, and search was on for the other accused.
