Details have emerged about a cricket match that allegedly marked the first time Siya Goyal's family became aware of her closeness to Chetan Chaudhary

The Lonavala Rural Police have now widened the probe into the murder of Ketan Agarwal to include the family members of the accused – Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary.

The main accused, Siya Goyal’s brother, Sahil, was questioned for nearly 10 hours. On Saturday, the police also summoned Siya’s parents to the police station, where they were questioned for more than five hours in Sahil’s presence.

During the interrogation, investigators reportedly asked the family whether they were aware of Siya’s relationship with her alleged boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary.

Meanwhile, details have emerged about a cricket match that allegedly marked the first time Siya’s family became aware of her closeness to Chetan.

SIYA AND CHETAN MET IN OCTOBER; SIYA CHEERED FOR HIM AT CRICKET MATCH

According to the investigation, Siya and Chetan first met at a Diwali party in October last year. Introduced through a common friend, the two reportedly grew close over time. As both their families operated businesses in Pune’s Market Yard area, they frequently met there.

During this period, a cricket tournament for traders was organised in the Market Yard, in which Chetan Chaudhary participated.

According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar, Siya was present at the ground and openly cheered for Chetan during the match. Members of the Agarwal community who were present allegedly noticed their closeness, and discussions about the two reportedly spread among relatives before eventually reaching Siya’s parents.

The report claims that her parents confronted Siya and asked whether she was involved with Chetan. However, as Chetan allegedly belonged to a different community, Siya is said to have denied being in a relationship with him, reportedly out of fear of her family’s reaction.

KETAN AGARWAL ENTERS THE PICTURE

As rumours spread among relatives and members of the community, Siya’s family allegedly began searching for a suitable groom. Around the same time, Ketan Agarwal, who had reportedly returned from abroad after completing higher studies and was serving as a director in a reputed company, was introduced as a prospective match. Family members allegedly persuaded Siya to accept the proposal, citing Ketan’s educational background and the family’s social standing. She later got engaged to him.

Investigators suspect that Siya was unwilling to marry Ketan because of her relationship with Chetan but did not openly oppose her family. Police allege that she later conspired with Chetan to murder Ketan. Investigators are now attempting to establish the sequence of events leading up to the crime, and several questions were put to Siya’s parents during the five-hour interrogation.
