Siya Goyal’s mother Pooja Goyal has revealed that her daughter had little interest in studies and did not clear her Class 12 exams — a detail she says she had disclosed to Ketan Agarwal’s family before the engagement was finalised. Instead, Siya, 20, had launched a home baking business, which those who knew her describe as a natural extension of her cheerful, fashion-forward personality. What nobody saw coming was where that personality would lead.

The revelation has added a fresh dimension to a case already overflowing with dramatic twists. While investigators piece together a alleged murder conspiracy involving 4,400 phone calls, a torn passport and a 640-minute internet blackout, the internet has found its own way to process the story — with Reddit threads dissecting Siya’s cake business drawing some of the sharpest, most darkly comic commentary the case has produced.

What Exactly Did Siya’s Mother Say About Her Education?

Pooja Goyal told reporters that Siya had studied very little and had not cleared her Class 12 examinations — and crucially, that this was no secret. “I had told Ketan’s mother, his family," she said, adding that because Siya had no interest in academics, she had started her own cake and baking business.

According to the Indian Express, Siya is enrolled as a Commerce student at a well-known Pune college, though little is publicly known about how active that enrolment was.

On the question of Siya and Chetan’s relationship, Pooja Goyal was equally emphatic: the two had first become friends during a cricket tournament at Market Yard, but by the time Siya’s engagement to Ketan was finalised, there was nothing romantic between them.

She also pushed back against the suggestion that Siya ever avoided Ketan — whenever he called her, she never once made excuses or stayed away, her mother insisted. On the Udaipur trip that has drawn investigators’ attention, Pooja Goyal said she had a clear explanation and offered what she described as significant information about why her daughter made that journey.
