Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: In a big twist in the investigation of murder case of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal, accused fiance Siya Goyal’s brother, Sahil Goyal on Monday claimed that advocate Aashutosh Srivastava was never appointed by the family to represent them in the case.

As per a report by India Today, Sahil claimed that neither his family nor his sister had authorised Srivastava as their lawyer to represent them in court in the case. He further claimed that the advocate may have obtained Siya Goyal’s signature “by deceit" and said the family has filed an affidavit before the court raising the issue. Sahil also alleged that Srivastava had issued threats to the family.

When asked about reports of a planned trip to Bali, Sahil confirmed that the vacation had been scheduled but was cancelled because Ketan Agarwal’s passport went missing.

“Yes. But it was cancelled because of the passport," he told the news outlet.

When asked whether he had spoken to his sister after her arrest, Sahil declined to comment, saying, “No, sir. Whatever else there is, the police will tell you in court. Thank you."

The missing passport has emerged as a crucial part of the police investigation. According to the police, Siya allegedly hid and later destroyed Ketan’s passport before the couple’s scheduled June 6 trip to Bali for a pre-wedding photoshoot, forcing the trip to be cancelled. Police suspect the incident was part of a larger conspiracy that culminated in Ketan’s alleged murder at Lohagad Fort on June 18.

What’s The Case?

Ketan Agarwal, a 26-year-old Pune-based reator was allegedly pushed to his death from Lohagad Fort by his fiance and her alleged lover, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, respectively, on June 18.

Investigators claim the two conspired to kill him because Siya did not want to go ahead marrying Ketan. The couple had got engaged in February and were scheduled to marry later this year.

Investigators learnt that Siya and Ketan, who got engaged in February, were scheduled to marry later this year. Their wedding was planned in Udaipur in November, and a palace had already been booked for the ceremony.

Police have arrested 20-year-old Siya Goyal and her alleged boyfriend, 22-year-old Chetan Chaudhary, accusing them of conspiring to kill Ketan by pushing him off a cliff at the fort

The passport episode has gained further significance after the couple’s cab driver claimed Siya stopped the vehicle on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and removed an unidentified item from her purse after opening the boot shortly before reaching Mumbai Airport. Despite repeated searches by Ketan and others, including Sahil, the passport was never found.

As part of the investigation, Pune Rural Police on Sunday recreated the alleged crime scene at Lohagad Fort with Siya. Investigators asked her to demonstrate how Ketan was allegedly pushed off the cliff using a dummy. Police said co-accused Chetan Chaudhary will also be taken to the spot separately for a similar reconstruction.

Meanwhile, Ketan’s father, Vishal Agarwal, has appealed to anyone who was present at Lohagad Fort on June 18 to come forward and assist the investigation.

Speaking at a candlelight march organised at Belmondo Society in Gahunje on the outskirts of Pune, Ketan’s father, said that several people had witnessed the incident or the moments before and after it but had not yet approached the police. The march was attended by Ketan’s family members, friends and local residents, who gathered to demand justice.

“Some people are messaging us, saying they were present at the fort, but they are not approaching the police. I urge all of them to come forward and help us get justice for Ketan. I assure them they will not face any problems," he said.

Residents of his housing society in Pune also held a candlelight march demanding justice for the slain realtor.
