Uma Raghuvanshi compares Pune fort murder accused Siya Goyal to her daughter-in-law Sonam, says Siya has shown no remorse.

Ketan Agarwal's murder case comes nearly a year after the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case shocked the nation.
Uma Raghuvanshi, the mother of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, who was murdered during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, on Thursday, likened Pune fort murder accused Siya Goyal to her daughter-in-law Sonam Raghuvanshi, reported India Today.
Uma Raghuvanshi said that the 20-year-old’s behaviour reminded her of her daughter-in-law, Sonam Raghuvanshi. Calling her “mini Sonam", she said that Siya showed the same lack of remorse as her daughter-in-law.
Siya Goyal, 20, along with her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary, 22, has been arrested for allegedly killing her 26-year-old fiancé, Ketan Agarwal, by pushing him into a gorge at Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18. Police alleged the duo tried to pass off the death as an accidental fall during a trek.

Reacting to the case, Uma Raghuvanshi said Siya’s role in the murder case was similar to that of Sonam Raghuvanshi.
“Siya Goyal is choti (mini) Sonam. Looking at her expressions and body language, I was reminded of Sonam. She doesn’t appear to have any remorse for what she has done," she said, while speaking to India Today.
Uma Raghuvanshi also objected to Sonam being granted bail in the case, claiming that such a move would send the wrong message to people accused of similar crimes.
“Granting bail to Sonam increases the confidence of accused persons in such cases," she alleged.
In a case that sent shockwaves across the country, Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi was allegedly murdered during his honeymoon in Meghalaya in May last year. According to police, his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, conspired with her alleged lover and three others to carry out the murder.
The Raja Raghuvanshi murder case is currently being heard in a Shillong court. Sonam Raghuvanshi is out on bail, while the alleged mastermind, Raj Kushwaha, and three other accused remain in judicial custody.
The Raja Raghuvanshi Case
Raja Raghuvanshi, a 29-year-old transport businessman from Indore, married Sonam on May 11, 2025. The couple left for their honeymoon in Meghalaya on May 20 and were last seen checking out of a homestay in the East Khasi Hills district on May 23.
Days later, on June 2, Raja’s body was recovered from a gorge near Weisawdong Falls in Sohra. The post-mortem examination concluded that he had died from multiple sharp-force injuries to the head, prompting police to register a murder case.
Sonam went missing after the incident and remained untraceable until June 8, when she was found near a roadside eatery along the Varanasi-Ghazipur highway in Uttar Pradesh. She was taken into custody by Meghalaya Police the following day with assistance from the Uttar Pradesh Police.
The investigation alleged that Sonam had conspired with her alleged lover, Raj Kushwaha, to murder Raja during the honeymoon. Police said the trip to Meghalaya was allegedly planned as part of the conspiracy.
According to investigators, Raja was allegedly attacked and killed by three hired assailants, Akash Singh Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan and Anand Kurmi, while Sonam was present at the spot. Police have named Raj Kushwaha as the alleged mastermind behind the murder plot.
