Currently basking in the limelight due to his latest release, 'Parasakthi', Sivakarthikeyan, has officially announced his next film in line, 'SK26'. The star of the current era has gained immense popularity and a huge, loyal fan base over the years for his knack for selecting good scripts in addition to commercially appealing mass entertainers.
His recent films have courted big successes not just commercially, but also in terms of critical acclaim. Now, his fans have no reason to celebrate as the star himself has guaranteed an update on 'SK26' next week, to coincide with his 41st birthday.
'SK26' update likely to be a birthday treat
The 'SK26' update gained attention after a video surfaced online where a fan asked Sivakarthikeyan about his 26th film. The actor replied clearly, saying, “Next week.” This video has since gone viral.
With his birthday 41 on February 17, a lot of speculation is about the announcement on the special day. There are also claims that a promo video for 'SK26' has been pre-recorded, which indicates that the formal announcement is on the way.
From TV show to gaining Kollywood stardom
Sivakarthikeyan hails from a middle-class family background and had no association with the film industry. He started off as a TV mimicry artist on the show 'Kalakka Povathu Yaaru' and later went on to become a renowned television presenter.
He stepped into films from television, but the beginning was not easy. However, there were a lot of questions to ever accept a TV star as an actor. He transitioned from the small screen through sheer hard work, brilliant acting chops and a striking screen presence.Sivakarthikeyan’s 25th film is 'Parasakthi' that was written and directed by Sudha Kongara. It is considered as one of his finest performances. The film ran well in theatres but went on to gain more popularity on OTT platforms post release. Sivakarthikeyan has previously noted in interviews that his role in 'Amaran' was a tribute to his "motherland" through the portrayal of a national hero. But his role in 'Parasakthi' (2026) is a tribute to his "mother tongue."
