A construction accident at the Mahalaxmi Temple in Koradi, Nagpur, left several workers injured on Saturday. According to the initial reports suggest that an under-construction slab in one part of the temple collapsed, trapping 5 to 6 workers underneath.
Construction of a new gate is underway along the route from Koradi to the temple. The incident occurred near Gate No. 4, where slab laying work was in progress. During the process, the slab suddenly gave way, causing workers at the site to be buried under the debris.
The injured workers were taken to a hospital for treatment. Following the incident, there was chaos at the construction site, and local authorities, along with police, reached the spot to assess the situation and initiate an investigation.
Meanwhile, seven people, including two children, were killed on Saturday morning when a boundary wall collapsed in Jaitpur’s Hari Nagar area of South East Delhi following heavy overnight rain.
According to Delhi Police, the 100-foot-long wall fell on nearby jhuggies, trapping eight residents.
They were rescued from the debris and rushed to the hospital, but seven of them died from their injuries.
The victims—three men, two women, and two girls—were living in makeshift huts on a vacant plot.
Additional DCP (South East) Aishwarya Sharma said the wall was next to an old temple and a cluster of jhuggies occupied by scrap dealers. “The wall collapsed due to the rain. Rescue teams recovered the trapped residents and evacuated the remaining jhuggies to prevent further incidents," she said.
