Visakhapatnam: The deceased marine chief engineer Patnala Suresh’s mortal remains will reach the port city in the early hours of Friday as the authorities sent the body from Musat to Hyderabad on Thursday afternoon.
After immigration formalities, the body would be sent in an ambulance from Hyderabad Airport to Vizag by road.For context, marine chief engineer Suresh from Vizag was killed following a US military strike on a commercial oil tanker MT Settebello off the coast of Oman last week. Suresh was the chief engineer of the ship, and was one of the three Indian crew members who lost their lives in the tragic attack. His passport, certificates and luggage were recovered from the ship by the authorities and sent a video to the bereaved family a couple of days ago.After receiving the information, Suresh’s wife Bhargavi and other family members reached Hyderabad Airport. The district authorities sent a deputy tehsildar rank officer to receive the body. Suresh is survived by wife and two sons.Meanwhile, the additional secretary of ports, shipping and waterways Mukesh Mangal directed the release of Rs 10 lakh to each of deceased seafarers. The AP Non-Resent Telugu Society CEO Dr P Krishna Prasad urged the district collector to arrange to release the financial assistance to the bereaved family at the earliest.
