Sobhandeb challenges HC order on Ritabrata’s LoP post

Kolkata: Ballygunge MLA Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay on Friday challenged a Calcutta High Court single bench’s decision refusing to grant an interim stay on the Speaker’s move to appoint Ritabrata Banerjee as the Leader of the Opposition (LoP).The matter will be heard by a division bench of Justice Shampa Sarkar and Justice Ajay Kumar Gupta on Tuesday at 3.30pm.Earlier, the single bench of Justice Krishna Rao observed in its order that 58 TMC MLAs held the majority strength and that Ritabrata’s expulsion, which is under challenge before a civil court, had been stayed till June 30.
