A young woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district lost her life in a tragic accident while attempting to record a social media video, highlighting the fatal risks linked to the growing addiction to online content creation.

The incident took place inside the woman’s residence, where 27-year-old Mohini was reportedly filming a reel that involved staging a hanging scene.

Family members said she had set up her phone camera, placed a noose around her neck and climbed onto a stool as part of the act.

However, the situation spiralled out of control within moments.

It is believed that she either lost her footing or slipped, causing the noose to tighten and leaving her fatally trapped. The sequence, intended to be purely performative, turned deadly almost instantly.

The tragedy was discovered when Mohini’s four-year-old daughter walked into the room and found her mother unresponsive.

The child’s screams drew neighbours, who rushed to the house and alerted the police.

Officers arrived promptly, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination.

Police officials said an investigation is underway, but early indications suggest the death was accidental and occurred during the filming of a social media video.
