Social security, welfare fund board pensions for August plus a pending instalment to be disbursed in connection with Onam

The State government has decided to pay social security and welfare fund board pensions for August as well as one pending instalment of the pensions to beneficiaries in connection with Onam.

The Finance department has authorised the release of ₹1,474.81 crore for the payment of the social security pensions for August plus one pending instalment. The department has also authorised the release of ₹200.71 crore for the payment of welfare fund board pensions for August plus one pending instalment.

The pensions are paid at a monthly rate of ₹1,600 per beneficiary. Close to 60 lakh people benefit from the pensions. The payments will begin on August 23 and conclude by September 2, according to the Finance department. The money will be transferred to the bank accounts of beneficiaries who have opted for it. In the case of beneficiaries who have opted for direct-to-home delivery, the pension will be transferred through primary cooperatives.
