A three-year-old girl was allegedly strangled to death by her stepmother in Mohol taluka of Maharashtra’s Solapur district, triggering widespread outrage in the area. Police have arrested the accused, Tejaswini Nagesh Kokane, on charges of murder. The victim was reportedly living in a rented house at Vadaval Stop with her father, Nagesh Kokane, his second wife Tejaswini, and her elder sister Aakriti. Both children were from Nagesh’s previous marriage.

According to police, Tejaswini had been subjecting both girls to continuous physical abuse for minor issues such as not eating or refusing to attend school. On Friday morning, around 10:30 am, Tejaswini allegedly strangled the younger one to death following a bout of anger.

A case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered at Mohol police station based on a complaint filed by police officer Ashwini Satish Gholap. Investigations are underway, and statements from witnesses and the elder sister are being recorded.

In a separate incident, a teacher from a well-known school in Solapur was booked for allegedly molesting a Class 10 student. The case has been registered at Sadar Bazaar police station. As per the complaint, the incident took place on April 19, when the teacher allegedly approached the student in the parking area, placed his hand on her shoulder, and attempted to pull her toward him. A case has been registered, and police are conducting further inquiries.
