Sophie Cunningham and Lexie Hull enjoyed a relaxing day at Manhattan Beach during the Indiana Fever's West Coast road trip, offering fans a glimpse into their close friendship ahead of Wednesday's WNBA game against the Los Angeles Sparks.
The beach outing came after Indiana's convincing 84-68 victory over the Las Vegas Aces, giving the team a brief opportunity to recharge before returning to action. The social media post quickly gained attention among WNBA fans, not only because of the pair's beach photos but also because Cunningham and Hull have become two of the Fever's most recognizable personalities off the court.

Hull shared a selfie with Cunningham on her Instagram Story from Manhattan Beach, California, where both guards spent part of their day off soaking up the sun before Indiana resumed its demanding travel schedule.
Cunningham later reshared the image, adding to the buzz surrounding the post.
Hull wore a pastel-striped triangle bikini with bright pink trim, while Cunningham opted for a geometric-patterned triangle bikini. The two lay side by side on the sand, enjoying what Hull described in her caption as "much needed r&r."The outing followed another productive performance from both players during Sunday's win over Las Vegas.
Cunningham scored nine points off the bench, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc, while Hull continued her strong run as a starter with 10 points, four rebounds and two steals in 22 minutes. The Fever improved to 12-8 with that victory, marking their second straight win after defeating the Los Angeles Sparks 111-87 on June 27. Indiana now sits firmly in the playoff picture while navigating one of the busiest stretches of its schedule.Hull previously appeared on Cunningham's offseason podcast, and Cunningham has often praised her teammate publicly. Together, they have become fan favorites, with many supporters affectionately referring to them as the Fever's "mermaids."

The beach selfie quickly circulated across social media after being reposted by fan accounts, prompting hundreds of reactions from supporters. Some fans joked about the security surrounding the players during the outing."I see security is staying out of sight. Lol!" one fan wrote.Another added, "I bet Lex fiancé is there for security."Others focused on the ongoing online conversation surrounding the Fever."lol so now you like these two because you think they aren’t hanging out with Caitlin Clark in that moment? But as soon as they’re back on court backing up their teammate, the racial hate and insults start up again," another user posted. One response defended the lighthearted nature of the interactions between Cunningham and Clark."You don’t seem to grasp the irony or humor. Sophie calls CC pale as a joke. You sound humorless and missing the point."Another fan added a humorous observation."Feel bad for the body guards standing on the beach in suits protecting these two."

While Cunningham's social media presence often grabs headlines, her production has been equally valuable for Indiana this season. The veteran guard has quietly delivered one of the best campaigns of her career after re-signing with the Fever during the offseason. Through 19 games, Cunningham is averaging 9.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 49.1 percent from the field and an impressive 42.9 percent from three-point range.Despite those numbers, Cunningham was left off the WNBA All-Star reserve list when the league announced its 12 selections on Tuesday. The omission means the 29-year-old is still searching for her first All-Star appearance after eight seasons.Cunningham has reached double figures nine times this season, including a season-high 24-point performance against the Toronto Tempo on June 16 and a 17-point outing against the Seattle Storm earlier in the year.
