SP Leader Writes To PM Modi In Blood Over 'Rashtra Mata' Status For Cows, Shocking Video Emerges

SP leader Ansari penned the letter outside the District Magistrate's office in Varanasi.

Samajwadi Party leader Zeeshan Ansari on Monday wrote a letter in his own blood to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the Centre to confer the status of “Rashtra Mata" on cows.

Ansari penned the letter outside the District Magistrate’s office in Varanasi and submitted it addressed to the Prime Minister, PTI reported.

“I come from the Muslim community; that is why I have taken this initiative. BJP leaders keep making different statements regarding the cow. We want the BJP to make its stand clear by declaring the cow as the ‘Rashtra Mata’," Ansari told reporters.

He said the cow holds deep cultural and emotional significance for many people across the country, adding, “In many households, the first roti is set aside for the cow."

A video of Ansari showing him writing the letter with his blood has surfaced on social media. The SP leader can be seen surrounded by the party’s Minority Wing. The video was shared by news agency IANS on X.

This comes weeks after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that cows don’t need a formal declaration to be recognised as a “national animal" or “Rashtra Mata".

Addressing a programme in Bijnor, CM Adityanath had on June 1 said, “For those who regard the cow as ‘Gau Mata,’ no official declaration was necessary. Just as a son does not need to be told who his mother is, there is no need to formally declare the cow as our mother."
