Naomi Osaka moved into the second round of the US Open with her victory over Greet Minnen in the opening round of the year’s final Grand Slam event.

Osaka, who breezed past the Belgian in straight sets, caught the attention of everyone present at the Louis Armstrong Stadium as she walked out with bespoke dazzling headphones and headgear in a show-stopping moment.

Her headgear, which she donned as she walked out to the court, waving to passionate fans before removing it from place, was a shiny rose-adorned ponytail that sparkled with the floodlights beaming down on the Japanese superstar.

“I just thought it would be really fun to do a New York under the lights," Osaka said, describing her attire.

“This is my night outfit, so hopefully I’ll wear my day outfit next time."

“I was not expecting everyone to like Billie Jean Bling. I’m glad she made people laugh today," she added.

“I could have had a better attitude. Like, I was just very stressed. It was the first round, and this tournament means a lot to me," Osaka said.

“I wish I had thought more about the process rather than the result, but I’m glad I was able to win."

Osaka also turned heads with her dazzling Labubu doll, which she has named ‘Billie Jean Bling’, in a nod to the legendary Billie Jean King.

“This is my Labubu. She’s named Billie Jean Bling. Not Billie Jean King," she said, eliciting laughter from the crowd.

The 27-year-old Osaka is slated to take on Hailey Baptiste of the USA in her upcoming encounter at the hard-court Grand Slam event in New York.
