Special calendar marks 50 Years of Sholay, Sidhu–Pota recreate Jai-Veeru moment

The event featured a lively Jai-Veeru friendship tribute by Cactuss band members, who performed the iconic "Yeh Dosti" song. This collector's item calendar showcases rare memorabilia, celebrating the film's enduring cultural impact and legacy in Indian cinema.

A special calendar celebrating the 50th anniversary of the iconic film Sholay was unveiled at an event that paid tribute to one of Indian cinema’s most enduring classics. Directed by Ramesh Sippy and written by the legendary duo Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, the 1975 blockbuster continues to hold a special place in popular culture.The highlight of the event was a playful recreation of the film’s famous Jai-Veeru friendship by Sidhu and Pota of the Bengali rock band Cactuss. Dressed as the iconic duo, the two musicians sang the beloved song Yeh Dosti while riding a sidecar motorcycle, with guitarist Aritra Mukherjee accompanying them.During an interactive session Sidhu and Pota also spoke about their long-standing admiration for the film and its cultural impact. The commemorative calendar features rare and nostalgic material related to the film, including vintage newspaper advertisements, original tickets, record covers, posters, lobby cards and behind-the-scenes moments from the making of the classic. Designed as a collector’s item, the calendar celebrates the lasting legacy of a film that remains one of the most influential works in Indian cinema.
