The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls got underway across Mysuru district on Tuesday, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) launching a door-to-door campaign to distribute Enumeration Forms (EFs) to voters as part of the Election Commission’s statewide voter roll revision exercise.

The month-long exercise, which will continue until July 29, involves BLOs visiting every household to distribute enumeration forms, assist voters in filling them and collect the completed forms for updating the electoral rolls. The digitisation of the data collected during the exercise will also be carried out simultaneously until July 29.

According to the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Mysuru district has already mapped 96.64 per cent of its electorate ahead of the revision drive.

On the opening day, BLOs distributed 17,478 enumeration forms across the district. Mysuru has 27,99,693 registered electors spread across 2,915 polling stations, and an equal number of enumeration forms have been printed for distribution.

Among the 11 Assembly constituencies in the district, Chamundeshwari has the highest electorate with 3,57,327 voters, followed by Narasimharaja with 3,27,898, while Periyapatna has the lowest electorate at 1,99,706.

The district administration has appealed to voters to cooperate with BLOs by providing accurate information and submitting duly filled enumeration forms to ensure their names are accurately reflected in the electoral rolls.

As per the SIR schedule, house-to-house verification and collection of enumeration forms will continue until July 29. The draft electoral roll will be published on August 5, following which claims and objections can be filed until September 4. The claims and objections will be disposed of by October 3, and the final electoral roll will be published on October 7.

Mandya

The Special Intensive Revision exercise also commenced in Mandya district on Tuesday. Marking the launch, Booth Level Officers visited the residence of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kumar and handed over the enumeration form, formally inaugurating the district-wide revision drive.

Municipal Commissioner Pampashree and other civic officials were present during the launch.

Kodagu

The revision exercise began in Kodagu district with officials launching the house-to-house enumeration drive by handing over the first enumeration form to former Minister M.C. Nanaiah at his residence in Madikeri.

Assistant Commissioner Nitin Chakki said BLOs would visit every household to distribute enumeration forms, which must be filled in, signed and returned by eligible voters.

He cautioned that voters who fail to submit the forms could face exclusion from the electoral rolls and urged the public to cooperate with the exercise. If a voter is away from home, any adult family member may sign and submit the forms on behalf of all eligible voters in the household, he said.

Mr. Chakki said those enrolled in a different Assembly constituency or polling station should provide the relevant particulars in the form and added that BLOs would make three mandatory visits to every household to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the revision process.

Mr. M.C. Nanaiah urged officials to ensure that no eligible citizen is deprived of the right to vote due to omissions during the revision exercise.

Madikeri Tahsildar Sreedhar appealed to voters to cooperate with BLOs by providing the required information and affixing a recent colour photograph to the enumeration form.
