Member of Parliament representing Shivamogga B.Y. Raghavendra said that the Central Government headed by Narendra Modi will be taking a historic and significant step to ensure 33% of seats in Parliament for women with effect from the general elections in 2029.

Addressing a press conference in Shivamogga on April 15, Mr. Raghavendra said the special session of Parliament to be held from April 16 would take a historic decision to enhance the total number of seats in Parliament to 850, and reserve 270 of them for women. “This is a historic occasion of the century. For many years, there has been a struggle to provide reservations for women in Parliament. On this occasion, I wish to convey my wishes to women of Shivamogga”, Mr. Raghavendra said.
