How the Spider-Man Brand New Day trailer broke GTA 6’s record
According to data-tracking firm WaveMetrix, the trailer reached 373 million views within eight hours of going live, indicating steady engagement across platforms. The numbers also exceed other recent releases, including Deadpool & Wolverine, which recorded 365 million views in 24 hours for its Super Bowl trailer in 2024, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, which reached 355.5 million views in the same period in 2021.
The nearly three-minute trailer offers a first look at Tom Holland’s return as Peter Parker after several years and hints at a storyline that continues from the events of No Way Home, where the character’s identity was erased from public memory. The footage also includes appearances from several Marvel characters, including Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, and Michael Mando returning as Scorpion.
It also teases additional characters such as Boomerang and The Hand, while hinting at Sadie Sink’s role, which remains unconfirmed.Part of the traction appears linked to Sony’s release strategy. The studio rolled out the teaser through a staggered campaign in which influencers shared 2-second clips every hour over 24 hours, building anticipation ahead of the full reveal. The full trailer was later unveiled via an Instagram Live session featuring Tom Holland at the Empire State Building, reflecting a broader shift toward social-first launch formats.
