Actor Akhil Akkineni is making his return to the silver screen in the upcoming action drama film, 'Lenin'. Directed by Murali Kishore Abburu, the movie also stars Sreeleela however recent reports suggest the film is facing a casting shake-up, as the leading lady might no longer be a part of the movie.As per a 123Telugu report, Sreeleela opted out of Lenin due to scheduling conflicts. The makers are rumoured to be actively looking for a new female lead. Since filming had already commenced, this casting shift could lead to minor disruptions in the production. However, it must be mentioned that there have been no official confirmations from the production team.Sreeleela has been one of the busiest young stars in the South Indian film industry. After impressing audiences with her performance opposite Mahesh Babu in 'Guntur Kaaram', she caught attention again with her peppy dance number in 'Pushpa 2: The Rule'.

She also has multiple upcoming films in her kitty, including 'Junior', 'Mass Jathara', the period drama 'Parasakthi', and her much-anticipated Bollywood debut opposite Kartik Aaryan.Meanwhile, 'Lenin' marks an important project for Akhil Akkineni following the box office disappointment of 'Agent'. The actor has taken a different path with this gritty action drama. The teaser of 'Lenin' released earlier, got a mixed response but has a buzz among viewers for its raw tone and rural settings.

The film is to be based on the socially sensitive subject of honour killings and will be filmed in Rayalaseema. Akhil will portray a man from a backward community, going through intense social challenges. The film will be scored by SS Thaman.
