'SSMB 29' is fast becoming one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema. Directed by SS Rajamouli and headlined by superstar Mahesh Babu, the film is being pitched as a global action-adventure with unprecedented scale.

The makers have now taken the first step in that direction by exploring Kenya as a key shooting destination, with Rajamouli and his team conducting an extensive recce in the East African nation.

'SSMB' team scouts Kenya

During the visit, the crew was hosted by Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, who expressed pride at the country’s cinematic connection with India. Calling Rajamouli a “visionary storyteller,” Mudavadi shared how films like Baahubali and RRR have already made an impact in Africa.

He added that Kenya’s breathtaking landscapes—from the sweeping Masai Mara to the striking Amboseli and the serene Naivasha—will soon form the backdrop for Rajamouli’s next epic.Musalia Mudavadi's tweet contained key details about the movie, as it read, "Kenya this past fortnight became the stage for one of the world’s greatest filmmakers, @ssrajamouli, the visionary Indian director, screenwriter, and storyteller whose works have captured the imagination of audiences across continents.

Rajamouli, with a career spanning over two decades, is renowned for weaving together powerful narratives, groundbreaking visuals, and deep cultural resonance.

Scheduled for release in over 120 countries, the movie is expected to reach more than a billion viewers worldwide. This landmark decision to film in Kenya is more than a cinematic milestone; it is a powerful statement about our country’s beauty, hospitality, and place on the world stage. As the crew departs today for India to continue production, Kenya stands proud, ready to share its story with the world through the lens of SSMB29."
