Panaji: Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) has installed 11 medium-sized benches crafted entirely from recycled plastic at the new public space near National Theatre-Cafe Bhosle.
Installed as part of the urban transformation of TB Cunha road, each bench is composed of 41kg of recycled plastic derived from common single-use waste items like plastic bags and packaging films.Executed in partnership with the OneEarth foundation, the installation demonstrates how discarded plastic waste can be repurposed into durable, functional infrastructure, said IPSCDL in a statement. The benches are designed to seat three persons by repurposing plastic waste into functional public seating. The project not only reduces plastic pollution but also highlights the potential of sustainable design, IPSCDL officials said. IPSCDL hopes to install more recycled benches across the city in other public spaces. “We’re making urban spaces not only more comfortable and inclusive but also environmentally responsible,” said IPSCDL.
