HYDERABAD
Deputy Chief Minister M. Bhatti Vikramarka has asked the District Collectors to go for installation of solar power plants on government buildings and take a pro-active role in the implementation of Indira Solar Girijana Vikasam scheme in the RoFR (Recognition of Forest Rights) lands.
Reviewing the two programmes at a meeting held here on Saturday along with Minister for Social Welfare Adluri Laxman Kumar, Principal Secretary (Energy) Naveen Mittal, Chairman and Managing Director of Southern Discom Md. Musharraf Faruqui, CMD of the Renewable Energy Development Corporation V. Anila and others, and attended virtually by the District Collectors, Mr. Vikramarka wanted the authorities to send the plans of all Integrated Collectorate complexes, including their parking areas and canteens, to REDCO.
Since all Collectorates in the State have been built with the same design, they were required for installation of solar power plants. However, if any Collectorate had better/different designs, they may be sent to Hyderabad.
The Deputy CM, who holds the portfolio of Energy too, stated that solar power plants would be installed in all government offices across the State –from Gram Panchayat buildings to the Secretariat, to produce power on a large scale. A questionnaire related to the details required for setting up solar power plants would be sent to the District Collectors and the details be sent to the office of the Principal Secretary within a week.
Apart from government buildings, the solar power plants should also be installed on government schools, junior colleges, degree colleges and higher education institution buildings and the details of these buildings be sent to Hyderabad. The District Collectors were also told to send the details of large vacant lands of the Irrigation and Roads & Buildings Departments.
Mr. Vikramarks told the Collectors that 6.7 lakh acres RoFR land was distributed in the agency areas by the Congress Government in Agency areas. Under the Nallamala Declaration, the government is planning to provide free solar pump sets to the RoFR lands through the Indira Solar Girijana Vikasam scheme. It was launched in Achampet constituency and would be extended to certain areas of Adilabad district later this month.
