Minister for Home Vangalapudi Anitha on Tuesday urged former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to rein in YSRCP leaders from making derogatory remarks against women, stating that such comments deeply hurt lakhs of women across the State.

Speaking to media in Bobbili, she said that the comments made by former MLA Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy about Kovur MLA Vemireddi Prashanti Reddy shocked people across the State, including TDP leaders and activists. Mr. Jagan’s stoic silence on the issue indicates his support for Mr. Prasanna Kumar Reddy in the episode.

Recalling the recent controversy surrounding a TV channel debate on sex workers issues, Ms. Anitha called on the YSRCP high command to restrain party leaders, activists and sympathisers from making vulgar comments on women in the State.

Earlier, she participated in ‘Suparipalana’ programme in Bobbili and highlighted the achievements of the TDP government in the last one year.

Bobbili MLA Baby Nayana, Vizianagaram District Cooperative Central Bank President Kimidi Nagarjuna and others were present.
