Strict action against sale of substandard cattle and poultry feed: Chinchurani

The government will initiate strict legal action against agencies selling substandard cattle and poultry feed in the State, Minister for Animal Husbandry J. Chinchurani has said.

Inaugurating the new building of the veterinary hospital in Thamarakulam grama panchayat on Saturday, she urged dairy farmers to provide quality feed to cattle to increase milk production in the State. “Dairy farmers should ensure that cattle are given nutritious and high-quality feed. Kerala is the State that offers the highest price for milk in the country. Moreover, the milk produced in Kerala has been recognised by the Union government as the best in the country,” the Minister said.

Ms. Chinchurani said that a comprehensive insurance scheme to cover all cows in Kerala was under the government’s consideration.
