Student attacks government school teacher with liquor bottle near Sivakasi in T.N.

A Class 12 student allegedly attacked a government school teacher A. Shanmugasundaram, 48, with a liquor bottle on the school premises in Tiruthangal near Sivakasi on Wednesday (July 16, 2025), injuring him on the head. The teacher has been admitted to the government hospital in Tiruthangal.

According to the police, the teacher had stopped four students when they turned up for class late after lunch. After questioning them, Shanmugasundaram had asked the students to report before the school headmaster and walked over to his room. One of the students abruptly pounced on the teacher from behind and hit him on the head with a liquor bottle.

As the teacher raised an alarm in pain, other teachers and students came to his rescue and rushed him to hospital.

The police have picked up the student for questioning.
