Student injured after jumping from hostel rooftop in Vikarabad

A 17-year-old second-year Intermediate student sustained serious injuries after allegedly jumping from the rooftop of a tribal girls’ hostel in Tandur mandal of Vikarabad district shortly after midnight on Sunday.

The student allegedly jumped from the third floor of the hostel building and landed on bushes and shrubs, suffering fractures on both her legs.

Police said a handwritten note purportedly left by the student referred to issues with family members and poor facilities at the residential hostel. The injured student was shifted to hospital for treatment. However, police said she was not willing to give a statement regarding the incident.

A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
