Sugandha Srivastava on Kaamdhenu Gaumata says ‘Playing Arundhati is not just a role for me, it is seva’

Kaamdhenu Gaumata, a show that highlights the life of the sacred wish-fulfilling cow, has brought together devotion, mythology, and deep emotional connect for its cast. For actress Sugandha Srivastava, who essays the role of Arundhati, the experience has been nothing short of spiritual.Talking about how blessed she felt when offered the part, Sugandha shared, “I had never truly experienced serving Gaumata before. Yes, I had donated in her name at gaushalas, but the chance to actually live with her and serve her directly was something I had never even imagined. For an actor, when such a role comes your way, it feels nothing less than divine grace. I truly believe this opportunity is Gaumata’s own blessing upon me.

Playing Arundhati is not just a role for me; it is seva, and I feel deeply blessed and grateful to have received it. I am thankful to Sagar World, Shiv Sagar sir, and Prem Sagar sir for trusting me with this character.”Before stepping into Arundhati’s shoes, Sugandha portrayed Mata Kaushalya in Kakbhushundi Ramayan. She admitted that the prior experience prepared her for mythological dialogues, but Arundhati required a deeper dive.

“For Arundhati, I went much deeper into her history. I read about her, studied the era she belonged to, and even spoke to people to understand her qualities better. More than external preparation, it was important for me to connect spiritually with her.

I became very attached to our Gaumata Kapila on set, and she truly helped me grow into this character.”While language and dialogues came naturally, embodying Arundhati’s dignity and wisdom was more challenging.

Sugandha explained, “Accepting that I am this dignified woman, the eldest and most responsible lady of the ashram, who guides and teaches others—that depth required emotional and spiritual preparation.”On balancing reel and real, she concluded, “There isn’t much difference between Arundhati and Sugandha. I naturally enjoy helping people and guiding them. Even beyond shoots, I would spend time feeding and serving Gaumata. A part of Arundhati stays with me, but I remind myself I am Sugandha in real life, carrying her values positively without letting them overwhelm my personal space.”
