The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a disproportionate assets case against suspended Hyderabad official Thummakomma Sucharita after searches linked to her and her associates allegedly uncovered assets worth Rs 5.05 crore.
Sucharita, who was serving as a tahsildar and joint sub-registrar at Shamirpet, had earlier been arrested in a Rs 30 lakh bribery case and is currently in judicial custody.
According to an NDTV report, ACB officials conducted searches at Sucharita’s residence and other locations linked to her relatives, alleged benamis and associates.
According to the ACB, the searches led to the recovery of assets including 2.17 acres of agricultural land in Siddipet, three flats in Hyderabad, two plots, a Volkswagen and a Hyundai Creta car, gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 1.2 crore, Rs 12 lakh in cash and bank deposits of Rs 38 lakh.
The agency estimated the total value of the assets detected at Rs 5.05 crore, while officials said the market value of the properties could be significantly higher.
The ACB alleged that Sucharita acquired assets disproportionate to her known sources of income through corrupt practices and dubious means during her service.
The case has been registered under relevant provisions related to possession of disproportionate assets, and further investigation is underway.
