Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh govt has ordered that suspended IPS officer PV Sunil Kumar will retire from service on Tuesday upon attaining superannuation. However, it clarified that his retirement will not affect the disciplinary and criminal proceedings pending against him.In an official order, the govt stated that Sunil Kumar, who remains under suspension, will be relieved from service on the afternoon of June 30 in line with the retirement schedule notified for IPS officers for 2026. The order specifies that his retirement is without prejudice to the ongoing disciplinary and criminal cases.The government further said that departmental proceedings initiated before his retirement will continue under the provisions of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, and the All India Services (Death-cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958, until their conclusion.It also noted that Sunil Kumar’s pension and other retirement benefits will be regulated in accordance with Rule 16 of the All India Services (Death-cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958, along with other applicable instructions issued by the Government of India from time to time.
