Suspended Tamil Nadu cop brags to sister, mother about assaulting wife; son saw it

A disturbing case has come to light in Madurai, where a suspended police constable allegedly boasted about assaulting his wife, Thangapriya, to his sister and mother in an audio recording. The audio recording captures the constable, Bhoopalan, describing the violence to his mother and sister, Anita, who reportedly giggled in response.

The Madurai police have registered a case against Bhoopalan, his mother Vijaya, sister Anita, and father Senthilkumaran, a police inspector in Virudhunagar district.

In the audio recording, Bhoopalan is heard saying, "I choked her neck so badly that she could not even swallow her own saliva. Her face looks so different now."

Thangapriya was admitted to the ICU at a government hospital in Madurai following the assault, which she claims was due to repeated dowry harassment. Despite her family providing 60 gold coins and a Bullet motorcycle as dowry, Bhoopalan and his family allegedly demanded more gold, money, and a new house.

The violence reportedly escalated when Thangapriya resisted the latest demand for gold for their son's ear-piercing ceremony.

In a chilling description to his sister, Bhoopalan was allegedly heard saying, "Her face has changed now. That's how badly I thrashed her. (giggles). I used my nails and clawed her mouth. She screamed, and so I choked her neck to stop her from yelling. I locked her knees using my legs. She's limping now (sister giggles.)"

Anita, Bhoopalan's sister, responded by saying, "Warn her this is how things will be."

Bhoopalan further revealed his son witnessed the beating and said, "My body pain feels like I have been assaulted by ten people. I was trying to control her like a snake. Like locking a buffalo. That's why I have body pain. My son Dhanush also saw the assault and thought we were playing. He joined as well and stopped her from speaking further."

Thangapriya, after receiving medical treatment, has been discharged from the hospital. T

The Madurai police confirmed Bhoopalan’s suspension and stated that an investigation is underway. At present, they are examining the contents of the audio recording as part of their probe.
