Sulaiman Sayeed was arrested for allegedly killing his wife over suspicion and domestic disputes
Police in Hyderabad have arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly murdering his wife following prolonged marital disputes linked to suspicions about her character and her frequent visits to her parental home.
The accused, identified as Sulaiman Sayeed alias Suleman, a resident of Kishan Bagh, was arrested by Bahadurpura Police in connection with the murder of his wife, Nishad Fatima, 30.
According to the police, the couple had been embroiled in domestic disputes for a considerable period. Police said repeated counselling efforts and mediation proceedings, including before a Lok Adalat, failed to resolve the differences, and the accused allegedly continued to subject his wife to physical and mental harassment.
Police said that Sulaiman harboured suspicions about his wife's character and frequently objected to her visits to her mother's house, leading to escalating tensions between the couple.
On the night of June 7, following another argument, the accused allegedly concealed a kitchen knife and waited for an opportunity to attack. Investigators said that when Nishad Fatima was alone and asleep at their residence, he allegedly slit her throat, killing her on the spot.
After the murder, the accused allegedly attempted to erase evidence by disposing of the couple's mobile phones before fleeing from the scene.
Based on a complaint, Bahadurpura Police registered a case and launched an intensive investigation. Using technical evidence, field intelligence and sustained tracking efforts, investigators identified and apprehended the accused within days of the crime.
The case was cracked by a team led by Detective Inspector V. Madhan Lal and Sub-Inspector G. Ambedkar, along with Bahadurpura Police Station personnel, under the guidance of ACP Falaknuma M.A. Javeed and the supervision of senior police officers.
Rajendranagar Zone DCP S. Sreenivas commended the investigating team for the swift detection of the case and the arrest of the accused. Further investigation is underway.
