SUV struck from side on Dwarka eway, two friends die

Two others in the car escaped with minor injuries

Gurgaon: Two men were killed and another was critically injured after an unidentified vehicle rammed into the SUV they were travelling in at the Bamdoli traffic signal on the Dwarka Expressway stretch late Friday night. Two other occupants of the car escaped with minor injuries.Police registered a case against the unknown driver and launched an investigation. The accident occurred around 3am.The deceased, Umang Beniwal and Rahul Gil, were residents of Shekhpura village in Sonipat and Khareti village in Rohtak. The injured, Rahul Khatri, also a resident of Rohtak, is undergoing treatment.According to a complaint lodged by Shubham, who was also inside the car when the accident took place, he and three other friends went to Rahul’s flat in the car owned by Umang.

After spending some time there, the group left for tea.“As they crossed the Bamdoli traffic signal and were heading towards the Dwarka Expressway, Shubham told police an unidentified vehicle, allegedly being driven at high speed and in a rash manner, struck their car from the side ,” an officer said.It is suspected the SUV was taking a U-turn when the other vehicle hit it from the side.Police reached the accident spot near Okasa Cafe in Sector 85 after receiving information about the crash.

By then, all the injured had been shifted to Arvy Hospital in Sector 90, where doctors declared Umang and Rahul dead.Following a complaint from Shubham, an FIR under was registered under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the unidentified driver.Police are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the offending vehicle and trace its driver.In another accident, a 35-year-old Delhi resident died after his scooter collided with an SUV near IFFCO Chowk on Friday afternoon. Police registered an FIR against the driver of the SUV on charges of rash driving and causing death by negligence.The deceased was identified as Sandeep, a resident of Rajokri in Delhi, who worked as a driver for a private employer.According to a complaint lodged by his younger brother, Pawan, Sandeep came to Gurgaon on Saturday for personal work.

Around 12. 30pm, he was returning to Delhi on his blue Hero Maestro scooter via IFFCO Chowk when an Innova travelling ahead of him allegedly made a sudden right turn.This caused Sandeep’s scooter to crash into the Innova, and he suffered critical injuries.He was rushed to Civil Hospital in Sector 10, where doctors declared him dead.Pawan told police that he learnt about the incident from the people present at the accident spot before filing the complaint.“After Pawan identified the deceased and submitted a written complaint, police registered an FIR under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the unidentified driver of the Innova.” an officer said.Police inspected the accident site and are working to trace the driver of the vehicle.
