An SUV was found in an abandoned state near the Deputy Chief Minister’s residence on Saturday. While checking the vehicle it was found to be carrying a fake registration number.

Police constable Manu M., attached to Sadashiva Nagar police station, seized the car and lodged a complaint based on which an FIR has been registered against the owner of the car. The case has been registered under several sections, including cheating and forgery of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023.

According to the complaint, Manu was deployed for the traffic duty near DCM’s residence and noticed a white coloured car parked on the road, disrupting the traffic. Manu approached the car and looked for the driver to move the car. Finding no one inside the car, he checked the car details on the Mobile Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (M-CCTNS) app and got the contact details of the owner. When Manu contacted the number, the person who picked up the call said his car was parked in his basement. Manu checked the registration plate again to find that it was pasted on another plate to conceal the original number.

When the original number was checked again in the app, the address mentioned was in the Bengaluru South district. The police in Bidadi have been alerted to check the address.
