 CBI offers Rs50k reward for info on key accused

Patna: The CBI has announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for information leading to the arrest of Krishna Singh alias Atal Singh, the prime accused in the murder of Chandranath Rath, former personal assistant to BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari.

To trace the accused, the CBI has pasted wanted posters carrying his photograph across Buxar district and other public places.Rath was shot dead in Madhyamgram, Barasat, on May 6 amid widespread post-poll violence that broke out following the declaration of the West Bengal assembly election results.Earlier, the West Bengal Special Task Force (STF) arrested two suspects from Buxar. During their interrogation, Krishna’s name emerged, following which the CBI declared him a wanted accused.Krishna is a resident of Nuaon village in Buxar district. He also owns a house in the Sugar Mill locality of Buxar town. A CBI team from Kolkata has been conducting raids at both locations for the past week, but the accused remains absconding. According to sources, the CBI has gathered substantial technical and physical evidence against Krishna, including CCTV footage. He has a long criminal record with more than a dozen serious cases registered against him, including murder, robbery and Arms Act violations.

Six cases are registered at Town police station and four are under Mufassil police station in Buxar.The CBI has urged the public to share any information about Krishna’s whereabouts with the agency or the local police. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential, it said.
