DMK leader and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Thursday filed his nomination as a candidate for the Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni Assembly constituency.
Chennai Central MP and former Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran and DMK’s candidate for Anna Nagar Assembly constituency N. Chitrarasu accompanied Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin, who is seeking to get elected to represent Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni constituency for the second time.
In his affidavit, Mr. Udhayanidhi has declared movable assets to the tune of ₹12.92 crore and immovable assets of ₹7.72 crore. He has also mentioned that he has given a loan of ₹10 crore to Snow Housing Private Limited and a loan of ₹1 crore to Nadigar Sangam (aka South Indian Artistes’ Association) Trust.
As for automobile, he has declared to be owning a Defender and an Innova. He owns multiple land parcels in Ulundhai village in Tiruvallur district bought between 2010 and 2012. The 48-year-old has listed B. Com as his educational qualification. He has listed 10 cases pending against him over certain remarks he made in one event in Chennai on September 2, 2023. The complaints and FIR in this regard have been registered in Bihar, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, slain BSP leader K. Armstrong’s wife Porkodi filed her nomination as well on Thursday. Ms. Porkodi filed her nomination papers as the AIADMK’s candidate in Thiru. Vi. Ka. Nagar Constituency in Chennai. AIADMK leader and former Minister D. Jayakumar was among those who accompanied her when she filed her nomination.
As on 8 p.m. on Thursday, the details of about 1,340 nominations were uploaded in the portal maintained by the Election Commission of India. It is to be noted that some candidates have filed multiple nominations.
