The Tamil Nadu government has announced that Government Arts and Science colleges will take in 20% additional candidates in the current academic year.
This decision was necessitated by the ever increasing number of applications received for admissions to Arts and Science colleges in the State, Higher Education Minister Govi. Chezhiaan said in a press release.
Similarly, government-aided Arts and Science colleges will be allowed to take in 15% additional candidates, while private colleges will be allowed to enrol 10% more students.
The government has already announced the establishment of 15 new Arts and Science colleges in the State, the release said, adding that the different schemes implemented by the government, such as Pudhumai Pen, Tamizh Puthalvan, and Naan Muthalvan, have helped students from poor and rural backgrounds pursue higher education with good results.
