Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ma.Subramanian has written to Union Minister of Civil Aviation pointing out the challenges faced by air travelers in the state.

In a detailed letter that was sent to Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu on Saturday, Mr.Subramanian highlighted that, in recent times, passengers flying to Madurai from Chennai airport have been experiencing severe mental stress due to inadequate seating in shuttle buses.

“The buses that shuttle passengers to the flight do not have sufficient seating, forcing senior citizens and children to stand, which causes considerable discomfort,” he said. In many instances the flights are parked in distant places which is also a concern.

“ATR aircrafts are currently being operated on the Chennai – Madurai, Thoothukudi, and Tiruchi routes, but introducing Airbus services in these routes would be more beneficial,” he said and requested the Union Minister to take urgent steps to address this issue.
