Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Sunday (June 15, 2025) criticised the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government over the alleged availability of illegal guns in Tamil Nadu as a Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) functionary in Vellore district was killed with an illegal weapon.

In a social media post, Mr. Dhinakaran cited an autopsy report that reportedly suggested that the death was owing to bullet injuries, while the FIR registered said the PMK functionary fell from his two-wheeler and died on June 11, 2025.

“The murder of a prominent politician and advocate with a gun by conspiring for several days only highlights that the State Government’s intelligence agency has failed completely,” Mr. Dhinakaran charged. Referring to another incident in Ranipet district wherein a DMK functionary was arrested on charges of possessing an illegal gun, Mr. Dhinakaran said the illegal gun menace was beyond control.

The AMMK founder further demanded the State Government to not only arrest those involved in the murder of the PMK functionary but also look for the source of the illegal weapon and to further take steps to take action against all those involved.

Mr. Dhinakaran also criticised the DMK government for the alleged sexual assault of a girl who was grazing cattle at Koradacheri in Tiruvarur district and urged the State Government to take steps to ensure the safety of women. He also referred to recent incidents reported in Vellore, Krishnagiri, Tiruchendur districts wherein girls were reportedly sexually assaulted.
