The Tamil Nadu Assembly election will be held in a single phase on April 23, 2026, with voters across all 234 constituencies set to elect representatives to the 17th Legislative Assembly, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI) schedule cited by multiple Indian media reports.

While the counting of votes is scheduled for May 4, 2026, the ECI and state election machinery have issued detailed guidelines covering polling hours, voter identification requirements, postal ballots, home voting facilities and restrictions such as the mandatory silence period and dry days ahead of polling.

POLLING DATE AND TIMINGS

Voting for the Tamil Nadu Assembly election will take place on Thursday, April 23, 2026, in a single phase across the state.

The exercise will cover all 234 Assembly constituencies.

Polling is typically conducted between 7 am and 6 pm, as per standard ECI guidelines followed in Assembly elections, unless notified otherwise for specific constituencies.

WHO CAN VOTE
