Tamil Nadu assembly elections: Actor-filmmaker Sundar C confident of winning against PTR in Madurai Central

MADURAI: Actor-filmmaker Sundar C, who is contesting the election as the Puthiya Neethi Katchi candidate in the AIADMK-led alliance, exuded confidence that he would win in the Madurai Central constituency.Sundar C, who will face off against sitting DMK minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, arrived in Madurai on Wednesday and spoke to reporters.Responding to a question about his familiarity with the Madurai Central constituency, Sundar said he is well aware of the issues in the constituency and would take necessary steps to address them if he came to power.When asked about contesting in a stronghold of DMK, Sundar said competition is tough everywhere. “We cannot back down because of competition. We are in the fray to win and are confident of securing victory,” he said.Sundar said that he has given many interviews in the media as a film director and politics was a new field to him. He thanked Puthiya Neethi Katchi founder A C Shanmugam, all the leaders of the alliance parties, including AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, and BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran, for giving him an opportunity to contest from the Madurai Central constituency.He also said he would meet leaders from alliance parties on Wednesday to seek their support, and would begin his campaign in the constituency after filing his nomination on April 4.
