Tamil Nadu assembly polls: Actor-director Sundar C set for electoral debut in Madurai Central

CHENNAI: Director-actor Sundar C has been nominated as the New Justice Party’s candidate for the Madurai Central constituency. He will contest on the AIADMK’s ‘Two Leaves’ symbol.Party founder and leader A C Shanmugam made the announcement on Saturday.

Sundar C is likely to face DMK heavyweight and sitting minister P T R Palanivel Thiaga Rajan.“And here he marks his entry into politics,” said Sundar C’s wife and BJP functionary Khushbu Sundar in a social media post welcoming his candidature. “I, as his better half, stand beaming with pride and am sure the man who has been entertaining the people of Tamil Nadu for the last 30 years will give his best to them who have made him what he is today.

We humbly seek your kindness, support and faith,” she said.She added that under the guidance of PNK leader A C Shanmugam and with the support of AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, BJP state president Nainar Nagendran and NDA cadres, he would strive to win and remain a “people’s person,” as he has always been.
