In a sense, the special intensive revision (SIR)-related deletions did cast a shadow over the State elections, leaving several voters unable to exercise their franchise. While many of them followed due processes to include their names before the final roll was published, some of them discovered that their names did not figure in the electoral roll only days before the polling.
While this year, the number of complaints of deletions or bogus voting has come down rather dramatically, in comparison, there were other kinds of peeves from voters who failed to check the voter rolls assuming their names would be present, and arrived at the booth, only to find out that their names were missing. Some of them also complained that they had applied for addition, but that was not done.
