The single-window counselling for undergraduate seats in engineering colleges affiliated to Anna University will commence in Tamil Nadu on July 14 for general category, Higher Education Minister Govi. Chezhiaan announced on Friday (June 27, 2025) after releasing the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2025 rank list in Chennai.
The TNEA 2025 committee will conduct three rounds of counselling for the academic stream and general stream. However, for aspirants from the vocational stream there will be only one round.
Candidates may view their ranks at www.tneaonline.org. Candidates will get five days, until July 2, to verify and approach the TNEA Facilitation Centre (TFC) in case of grievances.
Online counselling for special categories including sportspersons (2,446 applicants), differently-abled persons (473 candidates) and wards of ex-servicemen (1,361 applicants) for government school students will be held on July 7 and 8.
Meanwhile, counselling for all students under the provisional horizontal reservation for government school students, general stream and vocational stream students will begin on July 14.
Three rounds
In the first round of academic counselling, 39,145 candidates with a cut-off of 200 to 179 will participate. The last date to confirm acceptance of provisional allotment order to join and move upward, for the first round is July 19.
In the second round that will commence on July 26, 25,376 candidates with a cut-off of 178.965 to 143.085 marks will participate. In the final round that begins on August 7, 1,01,588 candidates with a cut-off ranging from 143 to 77.500 will participate.
Mr. Chezhiaan said, this year, 2,41,641 candidates of the 2,50,298 who had paid the registration fee had been included in the merit list. This is 41,773 more candidates than last year. This year, 51,004 candidates have applied under the horizontal reservation category, which is 15,149 more than last year. A total of 2,342 candidates were found eligible for vocational stream counselling and 8,657 applications were rejected.
Of the 2,41,641 candidates who will participate in the general category counselling 1,32,582 are boys and 1,09,055 girls besides four transpersons. In the vocational stream, one candidate is a transperson. Among the government school students, 524 candidates are in the vocational stream and 46,848 are from the general stream.
The counselling will end on August 26. Despite commencing late this year, the counselling will conclude two weeks earlier than last year.
